Ben Campos might make things difficult on his parents. They could preside over a house divided.

The Class of 2017 in-state linebacker visited Iowa on Saturday for its 62-16 win against North Texas. He attended a Hawkeye Junior Day in the winter.

His older, brother, Jake Campos, is the starting left tackle for rival Iowa State. He attends all of the Cyclone home games to watch his sibling.

"I’m feeling good about Iowa and where I stand so far," Ben Campos said. "They are expressing some interest by sending a piece of mail every week or so. And I’m going to try my best to get to another game because I am very interested in their program."

Iowa’s shiny new football facility was not completed when Ben Campos stopped for the junior day. It impressed the 6-foot-1, 215-pound West Des Moines Valley High junior.

"The facilities were incredible. The strength and conditioning coach (Chris Doyle) seemed to care a lot about developing players into the best they can possibly be, which, as a player is exactly what I want," Ben Campos said.

Assistant Reese Morgan, who recruits the state for Iowa, took time out to meet with Campos on the field during pre-game warm-ups.

"We were just talking about how our seasons were going and who we had next week. Coach Morgan was making some jokes. It was a good time," Campos said. "I also talked to (Linebackers) Coach (Jim) Reid and we talked about pretty much the same thing. He told me to keep working hard and good luck on the rest of the season."

Through five games for Valley (4-1), Campos has racked up 21 tackles (11 solo), including two for loss. Like with Iowa, he said he’s received regular mail from Iowa State and Northern Iowa.

"I feel like things are going the same (with ISU and UNI) as with iowa. I’m very interested in their programs as well. I’m also very comfortable up in Ames because I am there so often," he said.
