Texas DB Matt Hankins commits to Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Eno Effect has helped the Iowa football team land another promising recruit from the state of Texas.
Defensive back Matt Hankins announced his commitment to Iowa on Twitter on Monday afternoon. His commitment came barely one hour after fellow Texas native Gavin Holmes, a wide receiver, had committed to Iowa.

Hankins is the 14th player to commit to Iowa’s 2017 recruiting class and the fourth from the state of Texas.
Running back Eno Benjamin was the first Texas native to commit to Iowa’s 2017 recruiting class in April. He has since been working hard as a recruiter for the Hawkeyes in his home state in what is being described as the Eno Effect.
Texas quarterback Peyton Mansell also committed to Iowa earlier this month.
Hankins, who is ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals, had previously trimmed his options to Iowa, Texas Tech, Duke, and Houston among his list of 20 scholarship offers.
The 6-foot-1, 160-pound cornerback made his decision after attending Iowa’s tailgater event over the weekend. Benjamin and Holmes also both attended the tailgater, along with Texas defensive back Kobe Boyce, who is committed to the Texas Longhorns.
Benjamin had been hinting on Twitter that something big in recruiting was about to happen on Monday. It turns out he was right.
