This podcast features a special hour with John Streif
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa athletic trainer John Streif is our guest for what turns out to be an emotional podcast.
The hour is packed with great storytelling and insight as John takes us down memory lane. He talks about the people who have influenced his life and about the student-athletes whose lives he has influenced.
The conversation turns emotional at times because being a Hawkeye means so much to John, who grew up on a farm near Manchester.
He pays tribute to broadcasting legend Bob Brooks, who passed away last Saturday at the age of 89. John was with Bob in the hospital during those final days.
John, who retired in 2012, also talks about the many head coaches that he worked alongside during nearly a half-century with the Hawkeyes. John gets emotional as he talks about Tom Davis’ leadership during the days after the Chris Street tragedy in 1993.
John also gives some advice on retirement.
It’s a special hour spent listening to a special person.
We think you’ll enjoy it.
