Jarrod Uthoff signs 2-year deal with Raptors
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa All-America forward Jarrod Uthoff signed a two-year, partially guaranteed deal with the Toronto Raptors on Thursday.
Shams Charania from Yahoo Sports was the first to report the news about Uthoff signing with the Raptors, who advanced to the NBA Eastern Finals this past season.
The 6-foot-10 Uthoff went undrafted in June, but latched on with the Sacramento Kings’ summer league team. He finished the summer playing in four games, posting averages of 4.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.0 steals over 17 minutes per game.
Uthoff will be with the Raptors for training camp. He isn’t guaranteed a roster spot, though, being that only part of his contract is reportedly guaranteed.
Uthoff is coming off a senior season in which he became Iowa’s first consensus All-America selection since point guard Andre Woolridge in 1997. Uthoff led Iowa in scoring last season with an 18.9 per-game average, shooting 38.2 percent from 3-point range. The Cedar Rapaids native also blocked 86 shots, best in the Big Ten Conference.
