2018 WR Micah Jones high on Iowa after visit
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa was already a front-runner for heralded receiver Micah Jones.
Having Jones on campus for the latest tailgater event this weekend only helped Iowa’s chances to land the four-star recruit in the 2018 class.
"They are definitely around the top of my list and to be honest have moved up my list," said Jones, who is from Gurnee, Ill. "I have no order officially. But in my mind they have moved up my list."
Jones had previously included Iowa in his top five that he released in June. The list also included Michigan State, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Illinois.
While on campus this weekend Jones had chance to see both the athletic and academic side of the university.
"We got to tour around the campus and Kinnick Stadium," Jones said. "We also got to talk to the professors of the university.
"I got to meet a lot of the recruits in the 2018 class. It was a great get together."
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Jones is yet another in a long list of recruits in the 2017 and 2018 classes whose first scholarship offer came from Iowa.
Jones is reluctant to say that Iowa holds an advantage based on their quick offer, but he is grateful for it.
"I don’t know about an advantage, but it will make me always have them in the back of my mind" Jones said. "They believed in my talent first and I am grateful for that."
Jones is planning to attend Iowa’s game against Iowa State on Sept. 10 at Kinnick Stadium.
Jones also said he hopes to make a decision during spring of his junior year, but also might push it back depending on the circumstances.
