AH-TV: Iowa players talk about bouncing back
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Win or lose, the Iowa football players have a 24-hour rule following a game.
The rule allows them to savor a victory and to learn from a loss. But after 24, hours, it is time to move on to the next game, which for Iowa is Saturday’s Big Ten opener at Rutgers.
Some of the Iowa players, including senior receiver Matt VandeBerg on Tuesday refused to even talk about the 23-21 loss to five-time defending FCS national champion North Dakota State this past Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
Iowa held its weekly press conference on Tuesday in which select players met with reporters.
The loss to North Dakota State has dropped Iowa from the Associated Press top-25 rankings and has fans wondering what direction the team is headed.
The players all talked about the importance of learning from the North Dakota State loss and about correcting the mistakes that hindered Iowa’s performance on offense and defense.
Some of the players, including senior cornerback Greg Mabin, also said that North Dakota State wanted it more than Iowa.
