Depth chart shows Iowa getting healthy for Penn State
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Barring any setbacks in practice this week, the Iowa football team should be at close to full strength for Saturday’s game at Penn State.
Iowa released its new depth chart on Monday and it has tight end George Kittle, offensive linemen Boone Myers and Cole Croston and defensive tackle Nathan Bazata all listed as starters. They have all missed playing time in recent games because of injuries, so the bye week came at the right time in that regard.
Iowa will have had two weeks to heal and prepare for Penn State after not having a game this past Saturday. The Nittany Lions are coming off a 62-24 victory at Purdue on Saturday.
Iowa’s offensive line should be at full strength against Penn State with the return of Myers and Croston, who are listed as the starters at left and right tackle, respectively.
True freshman receiver Devonte Young has played sparingly this season, but that could change coming off the bye week. Young is now listed as the backup at two receiver positions.
Iowa will bring records of 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten into Saturday’s game. Penn State is 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
Iowa will be without receiver Matt VandeBerg for a fifth consecutive game on Saturday. VandeBerg played in the first four games before suffering a broken foot in practice on Sept. 26, which was the Monday after the Big Ten opener at Rutgers.
