IOWA CITY, Iowa – Defense was the name of the game for the Iowa football team during its season opener on Saturday.

Iowa's defense held Wyoming to just 59 rushing yards and kept talented Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen mostly under wraps, forcing two interceptions to help lead Iowa to a 24-3 victory.

Senior linebackers Josey Jewell, Bo Bower and Ben Niemann combined for 38 tackles, including two sacks by Jewell and a forced fumble by Niemann.

Niemann's 13 tackles were good for a career high and Bower's 11 tackles tied a career high.
