Three-star receiver Jameson Williams likes location and climate of Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three-star receiver Jameson Williams had been on the radar of Iowa tight ends coach LeVar Woods for a while before Williams received a scholarship offer from Iowa on Thursday.
Williams, a native of St. Louis, Mo., likes the Iowa offer because it gives him an opportunity to stay close to family while playing football.
“I talked to (receivers) coach (Kelton) Copeland and coach Woods,” Williams said. “Coach Woods is the one that offered. I had seen him before at the Iowa camp down in St. Louis so we actually had a relationship before the offer. I saw him a couple of days ago and he wanted me to call him last night and ended up offering me.
“It meat means a lot because it’s very close and I could come back and see family and still play ball so I wouldn’t have to worry about being far away from my family.”
The 6-foot, 150-pound Williams has over 20 scholarship offers currently, including Big Ten offers from Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin.
Williams, a 2019 prospect, also likes the climate that Iowa provides.
“I like to play in cold weather,” A lot of football players don’t like to play in the cold weather, they let the weather effect them. Playing in the cold weather, I would really love to do that.”
Williams also said he does not have any favorite schools currently and is looking to make a decision before his senior football season.
He also said he does not currently have any visits set up.
Iowa currently has four players committed to its 2019 recruiting class.
