AH TV: Kirk Ferentz speaks for first time at Big Ten media day
By Tyler Devine
CHICAGO, Ill. – Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz began his 20th media gauntlet at Big Ten media day on Monday afternoon.
Ferentz addressed multiple topics, including the most recent roster changes, gambling in sports and him being on the verge of passing Hayden Fry as Iowa's all-time winningest football coach.
Ferentz, who turns 63 on Aug. 1, enters his 20th season at Iowa tied with Fry with 143 career victories.
Ferentz's 143rd victory had special meaning as it came in a 27-20 victory over Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl last December, breaking Iowa's five-game losing streak in bowl games.
New Nebraska head coach Scott Frost also addressed the rivalry with Iowa and showed his admiration for Kirk Ferentz.
There is also a video of Penn State defensive back Nick Scott talking about the challenge of playing in Kinnick Stadium. Scott called it the toughest environment in which he has played.
