IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa defense impacted Saturday's 23-0 victory over Maryland as much or more than Mother Nature did.

Iowa relied on its defense and on its rushing attack to prevail on a day in which the wind was a factor throughout the game.

Maryland didn't surpass 100 yards until its final drive of the game, while the Iowa offense produced 224 yards on the ground.

Saturday's game marked the sixth time since 2015 that Iowa has been victorious despite passing for fewer than 100 yards.

Iowa improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten and became bowl eligible for the 17th time in the last 18 seasons under head coach Kirk Ferentz.
