AH spring TV: Kelvin Bell meets with the media
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Defense was the theme on Tuesday as the Iowa football team held the first of four press conferences that are scheduled during spring practice.
Select defensive players, including All-Big Ten defensive end A.J. Epenesa, were interviewed on Tuesday, along with linebackers coach Seth Wallace and new defensive line coach Kelvin Bell.
Bell was recently picked to replace Reese Morgan as the new defensive line coach. Morgan had been a member of the Iowa staff for 19 seasons and most recently had coached the defensive line.
Bell started his press conference on Tuesday by thanking Morgan for helping him grow and mature as a college coach.
Bell grew up in Mississippi and played football for Iowa under Kirk Ferentz. Bell joined the Iowa program as a player in 2000, but his playing career was cut short by injuries.
Bell then got into coaching shortly after he graduated from Iowa in 2005 and has been steadily rising up the ranks.
Bell had served as Iowa's recruiting coordintor and assistant defensive line coach since 2016 before replacing Morgan.
