Another big recruiting weekend for the Iowa football team coming up
By Tyler Devine
IOWA CITY, Iowa – It has been a busy summer on the recruiting trail for the Iowa football team.
That will continue this weekend as the Hawkeyes prepare to host a group of 2021 and 2022 recruits.
One of those recruits, 2021 running back Willie Shaw, is anxious to make his first visit to Iowa City and get a better look at the Iowa program.
“I honestly don’t know what to expect,” Shaw said. “I haven’t been on any visits yet, so this makes my first. I guess I’m really just looking forward to getting on campus with the coaches and recruits and getting to know everyone better.”
On top of a scholarship offer from Iowa, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Shaw also has offers from Illinois and Virginia.
The Chicago, Ill. native said he is visiting Illinois on Friday before heading to Iowa City.
On the other side of the coin is three-star 2021 linebacker Jaden Harrell.
Harrell, a native of Urbandale, Iowa, has visited Iowa several times since receiving a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes in February.
Harrell said he is excited for the opportunity to improve his relationship with head coach Kirk Ferentz and his staff.
“(I’m looking forward to) talking with the coaches and building an even stronger relationship,” Harrell said.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Harrell also has an offer from Nebraska.
Gowrie, Iowa defensive lineman Aaron Graves, Cedar Rapids, Iowa offensive lineman Connor Colby and Lena, Ill. defensive lineman Gennings Dunker also will be on campus.
All three prospects are committed to Iowa’s 2021 class.
