Lorbeck, a native of Green Bay, Wis., had two sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles in 12 games last season.
Coming out of high school, Lorbeck was rated as a two-star prospect and had scholarship offers from Northern Illinois, North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Western Illinois, according to Rivals.com.
Iowa also added former Indiana offensive lineman Coy Cronk to the roster during the spring semester.
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Cronk started four games at left tackle for Indiana last season before suffering a season-ending injury.
