Jaron Tibbs Looking Forward to Iowa Official
Indy WR Back to See Hawkeyes in June
Iowa Football offered Jaron Tibbs a scholarship in early May. The the 2023 Indianapolis Cathedral receiver decided shortly thereafter he’d be officially visiting the Hawkeyes at the end of June.
His reasoning was simple and sound.
“I want to visit Iowa because it’s such a historic school with a winning background,” he told HF.
Tibbs unofficially visited the Hawkeyes on April 16. He left town seeking to learn more.
“I want to know how Iowa plans to use me and how members of the team interact with each other,” he said.
Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Ball State also have played host to Tibbs. He reported scholarship offers from those schools along with Akron, Columbia, Dartmouth, Miami (OH) and others.
The Hawkeyes are deploying two assistants in pursuing Tibbs.
“Coach Kelvin Bell and coach (Kelton) Copeland are recruiting me. I like them because they keep it real with me. We have a good connection,” he said.
Tibbs caught 66 passes for 1,105 yards and 10 touchdowns during his senior season. He hauled in 29 balls for 502 yards and two scores as a sophomore.
In basketball, Tibbs averaged 13.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game this past winter. He’s been running with Indiana Elite on the Adidas AAU circuit this spring. He’s been offered a basketball scholarship by Division II Northwood.
Tibbs reports a 3.7 Grade Point Average. Academics will play a big role in him picking a college.
“I want to study Engineering or Sports Science,” he said.
Rivals ranks Tibbs as a three-star prospect. The On3 consensus shows him as 162nd-ranked receiver in the country for 2023 and the No. 13 player overall in Indiana for the cycle.
