Top Prep Talent on Iowa Campus This Weekend
Instate 5-Star OT Kadyn Proctor Headlines Hawkeyes' Big Recruiting Weekend
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Despite not wanting a lot of attention, Kadyn Proctor will garner plenty of it during an official visit to Iowa Football this weekend. At 6-foot-8, 335-pounds, the five-star offensive tackle from Pleasant Hill (IA) Southeast Polk High casts a large shadow, literally and figuratively.
The Hawkeyes will be playing host to plenty of uncommitted talent beyond Proctor, who has narrowed his choices to Iowa and Alabama. Three-star Glen Ellyn (IL) Glenbard West High offensive lineman Chris Terek sits high on their board.
“I’m looking forward to getting closer with the staff and hanging out with the players. That’s mainly what I’m looking to get out of it,” Terek told HF.
He officially visited Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois already this month. He’s unofficially visited Iowa three times so far, the last stop coming in March.
The Hawkeyes are looking to add at least one tight end in this class. They’re bringing in a pair of three-star prospects at the position this weekend in Zach Ortwerth from St. Louis and Indiana’s George Burhenn.
“I’m hoping to get around (the current) players to see what life outside of football would be like,” Ortwerth told HF.
Ortwerth has officially visited Wisconsin, Minnesota and Pittsburgh this month. Burhenn stopped at Iowa State and Purdue.
In addition to Proctor and Terek, another pair of talented offensive tackles are scheduled to visit. Trevor Lauck is a four-star from Indianapolis (IN) Roncalli and three-star Logan Howland hails from Princeton (NJ) Hun School, where Iowa has a commitment from ’23 four-star quarterback Marco Lainez, who also will visit this weekend.
Lauck has officially visited Michigan State and reported offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan and others. Howland made official stops at Oklahoma, Michigan and Miami (FL) this month.
Iowa has a need at wide receiver in this class. It plays host to one this weekend in three-star Indianapolis Cathedral product Jaron Tibbs. He’ll be accompanied by prep teammate, Kendrick Gilbert, a four-star defensive end.
Tibbs has officially visited Purdue. Gilbert also has stopped in West Lafayette as well as Kentucky and LSU.
Waverly-Shell Rock (IA) linebacker Asa Newsom earned an Iowa offer last summer at camp. The three-star has visited the Hawkeyes six times total. He officially visited Kansas State, Minnesota and Stanford already this month.
Iowa will play host to four more three-star defenders. Kansas defensive end Jordan Allen, Chicago safety Kahlil Tate, Missouri defensive tackle Trevor Buhr and Detroit athlete Kenneth Merrieweather all will be making return trips to Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes currently have 12 known verbal commitments in the 2023 recruiting class. Marion’s Alex Mota is the lone projected receiver in the group and there isn’t a tight end yet.
