Hawkeyes Host Arnold Barnes on Official Visit
New Orleans RB Enjoys Time at Iowa
Iowa Football is searching for a running back in its 2023 recruiting class. Arnold Barnes is someone the Hawkeyes like to fill that role.
The New Orleans (LA) Booker T. Washington standout picked up an Iowa scholarship offer earlier this month. He officially visited campus this past weekend.
“I love the connection between the coaches,” Barnes told HF. “They’ve been around for a long time and are willing to do everything to get behind each other.”
Barnes (5-10, 190) is building a good bond with Hawkeye running back coach Ladell Betts. They’re closer after spending a lot of time together during the visit.
“Coach Betts is good because he’s been in the position where I see myself at in a couple years. He knows what it takes to make it,” Barnes said.
Barnes recently de-commited from his Tulane verbal pledge. He picked up a Nebraska offer this season and officially visited Lincoln at the end of September. He took an official visit to Charlotte in June.
The Hawkeyes impressed Barnes on his visit and appear firmly in the hunt for his services.
“I feel good about Iowa. Now i just have to see myself playing there,” he said.
Barnes is rated as a three-star for Rivals and 247Sports. The latter sees him as the No. 80 running back in the country for 2023.
