The new look offense of the Hawkeyes, led by OC Tim Lester, ironed out all the mishaps in the first half with three passing and two rushing touchdowns all after the break.
Cade McNamara put together his best performance as a Hawkeye with 250+ passing yards and three touchdowns.
A major part of that was true Freshman Reece Vander Zee, who totaled 66 receiving yards on five catches, two of those being for touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, business as usual. Jermari Harris read a first half pass by Illinois State for the first turnover of the season. Aaron Graves also shined in the debut with three sacks and four total tackles.
