Bad Knee Bets: Week Three
By Dallas Jones
IOWA CITY, IOWA – The debut of this segment had a chance to be special, but second half in Iowa City on Saturday had other plans. We cashed the Under 59 for the Nebraska/Colorado game with ease as it finished 28-3. Illinois won outright, easily covering as we had them +5.5 points. The Hawkeyes blew a double digit halftime lead to lose us the -3 bet, while Oklahoma and Houston never had a chance to go over 49.5, with a final of 16-12. On to week three!
Troy at Iowa (Under 39)
This bet is more of an insurance bet if you are a Hawkeye fan. While Iowa unders have become a bit of a constant in the sports betting world, for good reason. In the last three seasons, only six of

Iowa’s games have surpassed 39 points.
Iowa’s offense did put up 40 alone in week one, but Troy should put up a better fight. The Hawkeye defense on the otehr hand will look to bounce back from their uncharacteristic second half against Iowa State.
Alabama at Wisconsin (Under 49.5)
For just the third time in the history of their programs, Alabama and Wisconsin face off this weekend. I went back and forth between between Alabama’s spread (-16.5) and the under. My decision came down to what I believe Wisconsin’s game plan will be.
We all know how dominant Alabama can be, especially when it comes to skill positions and pass rush. I believe Wisconsin will try control the tempo while a heavy run game and even if they are’t successful and find themselves down early, I don’t think they have the guys to overpower that Alabama defense.
Vanderbilt (-10.5) at Georgia State
Contrary to popular beliefs, the Commodores really are a solid football team. They are 2-0 with a quality win over Virginia Tech.
Georgia State on the other end has a 23 point loss from Georgia Tech and a three point win over Chattanooga. Vandy’s offense should be able to overpower the Georgia State unit even on the road. This one might be my favorite of the weekend.
Maryland at Virginia (Over 57.5)
I know it is early in the year, but if these two teams have shown us anything, it is that they want to move the ball fast on offense. Both of these teams are averaging over 479+ yards of total offense to start the year. Words you love to hear when you are looking at the over. To top it off, both teams defenses are giving up over 400 yards of total offense as well.
It’s a simple formula, good offenses plus bad defense equal lots of points! We had to get one over in here, let’s have some fun.
