Defensive back Deavin Hilson leaves Iowa football team to focus on academics
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz announced on Thursday that Deavin Hilson is leaving the football program.
“Deavin has decided to focus on academics with the goal of graduating next August,” Ferentz said. “We thank him for his contributions and wish him the best in the future.”
Hilson, a junior defensive back from Des Moines (North), played on special teams in five games this year.
He started his Hawkeye career as a running back, but switched to defensive back during the 2022 season.
