Video: Postgame after QB change fuels Iowa’s 40-14 win over Northwestern
By Dallas Jones
IOWA CITY, IOWA – After a disappointing loss in East Lansing last weekend, Cade McNamara and the Iowa Hawkeyes looked to get back on track against one of the worst teams in the conference so far this season in the Northwestern Wildcats. They bounced back, thanks in some part to a change that took place early in the second quarter.
After a 85-yard pick six by Northwestern, thrown by Cade McNamara. While the play was a positive for Northwestern, the Hawkeyes responded by benching McNamara for Northwestern transfer Brendan Sullivan.
While Sullivan’s first three drives ended in punts, the Hawkeye offense then bounced back with three consecutive touchdown drives. 25+ yard scoring runs from Kaleb Johnson have become business as usual for Iowa and he added three to his resume today, while Sullivan ran one in from six yards out.
From the one minute mark in the second quarter until the end of the third quarter, the Hawkeyes outscored the Wildcats 35-0. A stretch like is going to win you a whole lot of football games.
