2025 Florida RB Nathan McNeil commits to Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa – A running back from Tampa, Florida is the latest player to commit to the Iowa football team’s 2025 recruiting class.
Nathan McNeil, a 5-foot-11, 195 senior at Wiregrass Ranch High School in Tampa, announced his commitment to Iowa on Saturday. He is the first running back to commit to Iowa’s 2025 class.
He picked Iowa over scholarship offers from Rhode Island and Arkansas State.
McNeil, who is ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals, took an unofficial visit to Iowa City this past weekend. Part of his visit included attending Iowa’s 42-10 victory over Wisconsin at Kinnick Stadium.
Through the first five games this season, McNeil scored 11 touchdowns (8 rushing, 3 receiving) with 587 all-purpose yards. His team has won all nine games so far this year.
Iowa running back coach Ladell Betts has led the recruitment of McNeil.
Betts, a former Hawkeye and NFL running back, was a high school head football coach in South Florida prior to joining the Iowa staff in 2021.
Iowa currently has two running backs from Florida on the 2024 roster: sophomore Jaziun Patterson and redshirt freshman Kamari Moulton.
Betts also led their recruitments.
Iowa currently leads the Big Ten, and ranks 10th nationally, in rushing with an average of 222.3 yards per game.
