By Hawk Fanatic
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa wrestler Stephen Buchanan appeared as a guest on Wednesday’s Hawk Fanatic radio shoe and podcast.
The nation’s No. 1 ranked wrestler at 197 pounds addressed multiple topics, including, of course, Friday’s much anticipated showdown against top-ranked Penn State.
Friday’s dual in Happy Valley will be just the fifth time that Penn State and Iowa will meet as the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in the country.
Buchanan will face freshman and fourth-ranked Josh Barr in a top five showdown on Friday.
Buchanan, who is from Loyal, Wisconsin, started his college wrestling career at Wyoming before transferring to Oklahoma. He finished third nationally at Wyoming in 2022 and third nationally at Oklahoma in 2024.
Buchanan also talked about his reasons for transferring to Iowa for his final season, and about the impact that name, image and likeness has had on college wrestling.
His interview stars approximately 80 minutes into the nearly two-hour podcast.
We appreciate Stephen Buchanan taking time from his busy schedule to talk with us.
