IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa wrestling coach Tom Brands continues to use the transfer portal to build and sustain his roster.
The latest additions are Nasir Bailey and Jordan Williams, both of whom competed for Arkansas-Little Rock this past season.
Bailey is a former All-American at 133 pounds, finishing fourth in 2024, and he most recently reached the round of 16 at the 2025 NCAA Championships at 133 pounds.
Williams is a two-time NCAA qualifier at 149 pounds, once for Oklahoma State (2024) and most recently for Little Rock at 149 pounds.
Both wrestlers have two years of eligibility remaining.
Williams could provide immediate help at 149 pounds with Kyle Parco having completed his lone season as a Hawkeye.
Williams started his career for Oklahoma State and made the Big 12 finals at 149 pounds in the 2023-24 season.
Williams was dismissed from the Oklahoma State program after the 2024 season following an offseason arrest. At the time of his arrest, Williams was charged with public intoxication and malicious injury to property, for allegedly damaging a golf cart window,, both misdemeanor offenses.
He then transferred to Little Rock and is now rebuilding his career on the mat, finishing 24-4 overall in the regular season and earning an 8-seed at 149 lbs. Williams won his first two matches at the 2025 NCAA Championships before losing to top seed Caleb Henson 8-5 in sudden victory in the quarterfinals.
Iowa relied heavily on transfers this past season, including Stephen Buchanan, who would go on to win a national title at 197 pounds.
Buchanan, who wrestled for Wyoming and Oklahoma before coming to Iowa, was Iowa’s only individual champion this season as the Hawkeyes finished fourth in the team standings.
