IOWA CITY, Iowa – A third player from Drake will follow Ben McCollum to Iowa as forward Cam Manyawu announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes Wednesday on social media.
Manyawu’s commitment came just a few hours after Drake guard Kael Combs also committed to Iowa, and a day after Drake point guard Bennett Stirtz committed to Iowa.
Manyawu started at center for Drake and averaged 7.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this past season, finishing as the team’s leading rebounder.
Drake finished 31-4 this season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1971.
McCollum was then hired as the Iowa head coach early last week, replacing Fran McCaffery, who was fired after 15 seasons.
McCollum has since added four players to the roster, with freshman forward Cooper Koch also having recently decided to stay at Iowa, and two assistant coaches as Josh Sash and Bryston Williams both will follow McCollum from Drake to Iowa.
Manyawu played his freshman season for Wyoming where he started in 10 games and played in 32 games overall during the 2023-24 season. He averaged 7.5 points and 6.7 rebounds for Wyoming as a freshman.
