IOWA CITY, Iowa – Redshirt freshman tight end Gavin Hoffman announced Thursday on social media that he will enter the transfer portal.

The Leawood  Kansas native was among five tight ends listed on Iowa’s 2025 spring roster.

Hoffman did not see any game action last season.

Iowa also lost tight end Johnny Pascuzzi since the end of last season as the former walk-on has transferred to West Virginia.

The four tight ends still on Iowa’s 2025 spring roster are senior Addison Ostrenga, junior Zach Ortwerth, and redshirt freshmen Michael Burt and DJ Vonnahme.

Iowa also has three tight ends in its 2025 recruiting class, including Iowa City West High graduate Mason Woods, who is the son of Iowa special teams coordinator LeVar Woods.

The Iowa football team is currently in its second week of spring practice. Spring drills will conclude with an open practice on April 26 at Kinnick Stadium.
