King Liggins Reflects on Iowa Official Visit
Chicago DL High on Hawkeyes
King Liggins kicked off his official visit tour at Iowa this past weekend. It was the first of seven stops the 2026 Chicago Brother Rice defensive linemen scheduled during the next three months.
The Hawkeyes set the bar high with their opportunity. All parties connected.
“I enjoyed Iowa because it was a great time with me and my family,” Liggins said of the official.
Illinois (April), Purdue (May), Wisconsin (May), Kansas State (June), Virginia (June) and Indiana (June) are next up for Liggins. He’ll see if he can envision himself at one or more of those places like he did during his time in Iowa City.
“I could see myself at Iowa because it is a great place to be developed and pushed,” he said.
Liggins (6-4, 280) is a good athlete for a big guy. Wrestling helps him with leverage and balance on the defensive front.
“What I bring to a program is that I am going to push myself and others around me like I have at Brother Rice,” he said.
Academics are important for Liggins. They will play a key role in him deciding in a college.
“I want to study something in the range of sports marketing or sports communications to be an analyst after football,” he said.
The 247 and On3 composite rankings show Liggins as a three-star recruit. They have him in the Top 80 defensive linemen nationally in 2026 and among the Top 20 overall prospects in Illinois for the cycle.
Liggins looks like a good fit for how the Hawkeyes operate at defensive tackle. He’s quick off of the snap, absorbs blocks and separates from them with sound technique.
