IOWA CITY, Iowa – One of the nation’s top 3-point shooters has committed to Ben McCollum and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Brendan Hausen, a 6-foot-4 senior guard from Amarillo, Texas, is the eighth player to commit to Iowa since McCollum was hired as the Iowa head coach almost three weeks ago.
Hausen played for Kansas State this past season and made 90 3-point baskets while averaging 10.9 points per game. He shot 38.8 percent from 3-point range, 81.8 percent from the free throw line and averaged 27.6 minutes per game as a junior.
Jon Rothstein from CBS Sports was the first to report Hausen’s commitment to Iowa through Hausen’s agent.
The addition of Hausen should help to compensate for the loss of senior guard Josh Dix and junior forward Pryce Sandfort, both of whom were among Iowa’s top 3-point shooters last season.
Dix has committed to Creighton, while Pryce Sandfort will play for Nebraska next season.
They both entered the transfer portal shortly after Fran McCaffery was fired as the Iowa head coach in mid-March.
In addition to Hausen, Iowa’s current roster also consists of freshman forward Cooper Koch, incoming freshman center Trevin Jirak, who is a senior at West Des Moines Valley, and five transfers from Drake: point guard Bennett Stirtz, forwards Cam Manyawu and Tavion Banks and guards Cael Combs and Isaia Howard.
Stirtz was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year this past season.
Koch will have four seasons of eligibility after recently learning that his medical redshirt waiver had been approved.
He only appeared in 10 games this past season due to a medical condition.
In other recruiting news, Iowa hosted 2025 point guard and former Xavier commit Nyk Lewis on an official visit this past weekend.
The 6-1 Lewis, who attends Gonzaga High School in the Washington D.C. area, also recently visited Vanderbilt.
He is ranked as a top-60 recruit by On3 in the 2025 class.
