IOWA CITY, Iowa – A high school wide receiver from Florida is the latest player to commit to the Iowa football team’s 2026 recruiting class.
Diondre Smith, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound native of Neptune Beach, Florida, announced his commitment to Iowa Sunday on social media.
He picked Iowa over reported scholarship offers from Miami (Fla.), Maryland, Louisville, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, South Florida and Central Florida among others.
Iowa tight end coach Abdul Hodge, who is a Florida native and a former star linebacker for the Hawkeyes, has been the lead recruiter for Smith.
Smith is the eighth prospect to commit to Iowa’s 2026 class, and the second receiver, joining Wisconsin native Brody Schaffer.
Michigan native Marcello Vitti, a four-star prospect, is listed as an athlete in the 2026 class, but could also play receiver for Iowa.
