Darieon Prescott Discusses Iowa Visit, Offer
'28 IL DE Hits It Off with Hawkeye Staff
Sophomore-to-be Darieon Prescott has time on his side. The Bolingbrook (IL) High defensive end will need it to sort through his many suitors in recruiting.
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin have reportedly offered scholarships to the Class of 2028 prospect. Kansas State, Indiana, Boston College, Kansas, Cincinnati and Iowa State have shown interest in him.
Student-athletes that garner this much attention early in the process often continue stacking offers. It feels like the 6-foot-6, 220-pound Prescott is just scratching the surface of what he can be.
Iowa offers fewer prep freshmen than most programs nationally. That the Hawkeyes were moved to do so with Prescott is revealing. He picked up the opportunity while visiting campus last Saturday.
“I really liked the facility and the time I spent with the coach and staff, especially the defensive line coach (Kelvin Bell),” Prescott said. “We had great conversations, and I really enjoyed it.”
Bell presented him with the offer.
“I really had a deep conversation with the D-Line coach and my mother. We went over a lot of things about him and me as well. After it, he gave me the scholarship,” Prescott said.
According to 247 Sports, Prescott was the sixth ’28 prospect offered by Iowa. Dowling Catholic offensive lineman Carter Barrett is the only in-state recruit to be offered by the Hawkeyes.
Prescott said his next Iowa stop would likely be this summer.
“I would like to learn more about campus life and what the day-to-day (experience) would look like in the players’ shoes,” he said.
It’s a one-day-at-a-time approach with a ready-to-learn mindset to the recruiting process.
“It’s just being completely blessed for the opportunity given overall, and just trying to truly see what school is best for me and my family at the end of the day,” Prescott said.
A mulit-sport athlete, Prescott piled up 66 tackles last season. He sacked the quarterback five times and blocked a pair of kicks.
