Indiana Fever dominate Brazil 108-44 in Caitlin Clark’s return

IOWA CITY, Iowa – While many were just excited to see Clark and the Fever take the floor today, Coach Stephanie White and the team were excited to finally compete as a healthy unit for the first time.
Caitlin missed Saturday afternoons matchup, where the Fever took down the Washington Mystics 79-74 with a calf injury. Pregame Coach White expressed her thoughts on how they can learn from today’s game.

First Half: The Indiana Fever offense was putting on an absolute clinic this afternoon as they put up 37 points in the first quarter. They knocked down seven of their nine attempts from three in the first, including two from both Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell.
New additions such as DeWanna Bonner, Sophie Cunningham and Natasha Howard made their presence felt early, combining for 13 points in the first 15 minutes of gameplay. The Fever never looked back after their hot start and by the break, saw themselves leading 70-24.
Points came in bunches as the Fever shot 24-41 (57.1%) from the field and 12-18 (66.7%) from three. Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark both shot 3-4 from deep in the half, Lexie Hull also knocked down three shots from downtown in the half as well.
Second half: The dominance of the Fever continued in the second half, as they went on a 13-2 run over the first 5:53 in the third quarter to grow the lead to 47.
At this point in the game, Caitlin Clark had 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and posted a team high+41 while she was on the court. Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston were both +40 at the same time. Absolute dominance from the Fever’s core.
As the third quarter came to a close, Clark gave the fans exactly what they had been waiting for. One last three from BEHIND the 22 logo on the court.

The end of the third called for the end of the game for many of the Fever players as they led 92-35 going into the final period. Four of the Fever starters reached double digits, led by Kelsey Mitchell (17), followed by Caitlin Clark (16), Aliyah Boston (11) and Natasha Howard (10).
None of the Fever starters played in the fourth quarter, but the supporting cast finished strong as the Fever win 108-44.
