AH TV: Narduzzi, Pitt Players React to Iowa Loss
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Pittsburgh Coach Pat Narduzziwas pleased with his team’s effort Saturday night in a tough 27-24 loss to Iowa here at Kinnick Stadium. He admitted his Panthers just didn’t produce enough plays in the end.
"Our kids fought their tails off, I can tell you that," the first-year head coach and former Michigan State defensive coordinator. "I’m real proud of our football team the way they went out and fought for four quarters. We talked about toughness and being a tough-ass team and that’s what our kids were today. We proved a lot of things to a lot of people.
"There still are some things we left out there. It’s a game of inches and we didn’t get the inches at times that we needed. Iowa is a good football team. Kirk (Ferentz has) them playing well, they’re sound and they made some plays. We give them credit."
Pittsburgh Receiver Tyler Boyd caught 10 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. The 2-1 Panthers managed just 55 rushing yards on 27 carries.
"We were thinking about revenge. It was a meaningful game because they beat us last year. So we went out there and never gave up," Boyd said.
Despite a big day, Boyd was complimentary of Iowa’s secondary, led by cornerback Desmond King, who picked off two passes.
"They definitely were pretty good, best I’ve seen so far," Boyd said. "They may be the best I might see throughout the whole year. I had to work to get open."
