IOWA CITY, Iowa – Sunday was a busy day at the Iowa Football Facility.
Approximately 30 recruits from the 2017 and 2018 classes attended Iowa’s junior-day event on Sunday. Most of the players were from instate or from bordering states, including three-star running back Andrew Clair, who is from St. Louis, Mo.
Clair had the opportunity to tour Iowa’s state-of-the-art facilities, as well as visit with current Hawkeye players and coaches.
Iowa’s facilities and academics stood out the most to Clair.
“The weight room and academic side of Iowa still stands out to me,” Clair said. “The facilities are some of the best, if not the best (in the country). My family also likes the academic side.”
Iowa was the first school to offer Clair a scholarship and remains at the top of his list.
Clair recently received his second scholarship offer from Northern Illinois and has garnered interest from Syracuse, Penn State, Iowa State, Western Michigan and Illinois.
Clair said his recruitment still is in the early stages and he wants to wait a few months before making a decision.
“I think I’m going to make a decision in early August,” Clair said. “At this point, I’m still waiting the process out. But in August you could be looking for my decision if I’m ready.”
Clair is among a number of skill players being recruited by Iowa who could play on either side of the ball in college. Clair is unsure if he wants to play offense or defense in college.
“I had the option to go with the defensive backs or running backs during the position meetings,” Clair said. “That told me I could either be playing offense or defense at Iowa.”
Clair said he plans to attend multiple camps over the spring and summer. He also plans to schedule more visits to other schools before making a decision.
