Jess Settles appears on rare Tuesday episode of Hawk Fanatic radio show and podcast
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa basketball player Jess Settles was the guest on a rare Tuesday episode of the Hawk Fanatic radio show and podcast.
Settles, who works for the Big Ten Network and for FS1 as a college basketball color analyst, spoke in detail about the rise of Keegan Murray and where he feels Murray ranks among all-time great Iowa players.
Settles also talked about Iowa’s late-season surge and about his alma mater winning the Big Ten Tournament championship this past Sunday in Indianapolis.
No. 5 seed Iowa (26-9) will face No. 12 seed Richmond (23-12) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday in Buffalo, New York.
Iowa is trying to make the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999 when Settles was a sixth-year senior.
Settles said during the interview that it’s time for Iowa to end the Sweet 16 drought, and he feels confident that Keegan Murray and his cohorts can meet the challenge.
The interview lasted for about 45 minutes, and as he always does, Settles brought great passion and insight to the conversation.
