IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three-star defensive back Djimon Colbert has decided one thing about his college football future. He will play for a Big Ten school.
Colbert told allhawkeyes.com on Thursday that he has narrowed his list of schools to Iowa and Nebraska. The high school junior from Kansas City, Mo., native plans to announce his choice next month.
Colbert will make his decision after attending a junior day event at each school next month. He plans to visit Iowa on March 6, followed by Nebraska on March 12.
“They are equal right now, but one has a slight edge,” Colbert said without being specific.“The junior day visit will be a big deciding factor for me.”
Colbert attends Winnetonka High School in Kansas City. That is the same high school from which Iowa sophomore-to-be linebacker Aaron Mends graduated.
Iowa already has received verbal commitments from five players in the 2017 senior class, including five-star defensive end A.J. Epenesa from Edwardsville, Ill.
The other four players committed to the class are all from in state: North Fayette defensive tackle Juan Harris, Madrid defensive end Coy Kirkpatrick, Mount Vernon offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs and Solon tight end/linebacker Jacob Coons.
