AH-TV: Fran McCaffery, Iowa players talk about the challenge of facing Villanova
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Iowa men’s basketball team is just one victory from advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999.
Standing in the way, however, is No. 2 seed Villanova.
The teams will square off in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at the Barclays Center. This will be Iowa’s second consecutive game against a school from Philadelphia. Iowa advanced to the second round by defeating Temple 72-70 in overtime on Friday.
Iowa coach Fran McCaffery and several of his players talk about the challenge of facing the Wildcats in the following video interviews. McCaffery grew up in Philadelphia and played point guard for the University of Pennsylvania, so he feels a connection to both Villanova and Temple.
Villanova also defeated Iowa 88-83 in the championship game of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 30, 2013.
