Wednesday’s podcast features special guest Mark Gannon and lots of cool stories
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa City native Mark Gannon was a freshman on the last Iowa men’s basketball team to have advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 1980.
Gannon takes a look back 36 years later at Iowa’s magical run on Wednesday’s podcast. He spends over an hour telling stories about what made the 1979-80 team special. The 1979 Regina graduate talks about his respect and admiration for Iowa point guard Ronnie Lester and what it was like playing for Lute Olson at Iowa.
Gannon also becomes emotional while talking about Kenny Arnold’s fight against cancer. Arnold was the starting shooting guard on Iowa’s 1980 Final Four team.
Hope you enjoy Mark’s stories as much as we did.
