Monday’s podcast features wrestling legend Dan Gable
IOWA CITY, Iowa – With Carver-Hawkeye Arena set to host the United States Olympic Wrestling Trials on Saturday and Sunday, we figured it was time to speak with a wrestling legend.
Former Iowa coach Dan Gable was our guest on Monday’s podcast and we were fortunate to have him for the entire hour. We covered a wide range of topics, including ways to make the sport of wrestling more appealing to a bigger audience and Gable’s popularity in Iran.
There were 9,800 tickets sold for the wrestling trials as of Monday morning. Gable stressed throughout the interview the importance of selling out the event in order to show that Iowa is worthy of hosting future events of this magnitude.
He also talked about Penn State’s current dominance in wrestling and what Iowa has to do in order to narrow the gap. Penn State has won five of the last national titles in wrestling.
So kick back and listen to arguably the greatest wrestler of all time, and the greatest wrestling coach of all time, talk about the sport that has made him a legend.
