Iowa still in the mix for Alabama 3-star linebacker
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Even with over 20 scholarship offers, three-star linebacker Colin Anderson won’t forget who came along first.
Anderson, a native of Killen, Ala., has seen his stock soar since receiving his first offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes. He appreciates the early respect from the Iowa coaches and still is seriously considering Iowa.
“They were the first ones who offered me and they have a heck of a thing going,” Anderson said Wednesday. “I don’t have anything ranked right now, but they’re definitely in the mix.”
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Anderson also has ties to the state of Iowa, including relatives who still live in Iowa. But he isn’t sure right now if that’ll be much of a factor in his decision.
Anderson is sure about one thing, though, if he does pick Iowa. He would have a large following on game day thanks to his numerous ties to the state.
“That’s hard to say, but it’s definitely something Iowa has going for it,” Anderson said when asked if having relatives in Iowa will influence his decision. “I would have family knocking down the gates to every game.”
Anderson doesn’t have any visits planned for the near future, but he is making plans with his parents to visit some schools this summer.
“I’m just focusing on spring ball and my team right now,” Anderson said.
Anderson said he could make a decision in late June, but probably not any sooner.
He also holds scholarship offers from Iowa State, Illinois, Louisville, Georgia Tech, California, Virginia, Memphis and Vanderbilt.
