Monday’s podcast features the great Ronnie Lester
Note: Happy to announce that our technical problem with this podcast has been fixed.
IOWA CITY, Iowa – We were accompanied by greatness on Monday with former Iowa point guard Ronnie Lester as our guest for the final 30 minutes.
Arguably the greatest player in the history of the Iowa program, Lester talks about growing up in Chicago and being recruited by former Iowa coach Lute Olson. Lester said it felt as if he were a member of the Iowa team during his senior year of high school because of how well the Iowa coaches recruited him.
Lester, 57, also talks about his knee injury and how the team rallied in his absence to make the NCAA Tournament in 1980. Iowa also advanced to the NCAA Final Four that season, only to see Lester injure his knee again in the semifinals against Louisville.
Lester played seven seasons in the NBA and has worked as an NBA executive and scout. He currently lives in Boca Raton, Fla., and is taking a year off from basketball. Lester hopes to land another NBA front-office job in the near future.
Hope you enjoy our conversation with a legend.
