Monday’s podcast features lively discussion about basketball scholarships
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Our latest podcast features a spirited discussion on whether Connor McCaffery should agree to walk-on the Iowa men’s basketball team in order to make another scholarship available.
Connor McCaffery, a 6-foot-5 guard from Iowa City West High School, is the only player currently committed to Iowa’s 2017 recruiting class.
One side of the debate says Connor should be a walk-on because his father, Iowa coach Fran McCaffery, could easily afford to pay the tuition. It also would make another scholarship available for 2017 recruiting class.
The other side of the debate says Connor should do what he feels is in his best interest and that he shouldn’t have to sacrifice a scholarship just because his father is the head coach and could afford to pay his tuition.
We also address some other topics, including the Iowa baseball team preparing to play in the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday for the third consecutive season.
There wasn’t much time for our usual drifting because we took so many calls about the scholarship debate.
So give it a listen.
