AH-TV: Multiple interviews with Iowa players in the PTL
NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa – Week two of the Prime Time League featured an intriguing matchup between incoming Iowa freshmen roommates Cordell Pemsl and Tyler Cook.
The two 6-foot-8 forwards spent much of the time guarding each other during Thursday’s game, which was played before a packed house at the North Liberty Community Center.
Pemsl scored 16 points to help lead his team to an 84-74 victory, while Cook finished with 17 points, including several rim-rattling dunks, and five assists.
Both players said after the game that they inspire each other to get better on a daily basis. They also enjoy talking trash as part of the motivational process.
"We do that every day, whether it’s walking to class or if it’s in the gym" Pemsl said of talking trash. "We’re always just talking crap. We’re just trying to get each other to go to the next level because we know there is always the next level."
Pemsl, who graduated from Dubuque Wahlert, felt fortunate to have made it through Thursday’s game unscathed. He only played about 20 seconds in his PTL debut last Thursday before suffering an eye injury.
"I was hoping to make it past 20 seconds," Pemsl joked after Thursday’s game.
Meanwhile, Iowa redshirt freshman guard Isaiah Moss also played well on Thursday, recording a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds in his game.
