Monday’s podcast features Don Patterson’s analysis of Saturday’s loss
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa offensive coordinator and Western Illinois head coach Don Patterson is our regular guest on Monday’s podcast.
Patterson has a unique insight for why Iowa lost to five-time FCS national champion North Dakota State 23-21 this past Saturday. The Bison made a 37-year field goal as time expired to pull off the upset.
Patterson knows how it feels to be on both sides as a former Iowa assistant and as a former FCS head coach at Western Illinois. He says the gap separating the two divisions isn’t nearly as wide as it used to be or as wide as many still think it is today.
Patterson takes a close look at what went wrong for Iowa and why the Bison were able to control both sides of the line of scrimmage.
Patterson appears on the first part of our podcast and talks for nearly 20 minutes about Saturday’s loss and about moving on the Big Ten opener at Rutgers this coming Saturday.
We spend the second half of the podcast answering calls and doing some drifting on to unrelated topics.
So if you want detailed analysis from somebody who has been there and done it before, this podcast has it thanks to Don Patterson.
We also try to have a little fun because life is too short to dwell on any loss.
