AH TV: Iowa players talk about 31-14 win over North Texas
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team's 31-14 victory over North Texas on Saturday featured as strange of a first half as you'll see, and a second half in which the Hawkeyes did enough good things to avoid an upset.
Iowa trailed 14-10 at halftime, but fought off injuries to senior running backs Akrum Wadley and James Butler to improve to 3-0 heading into next week's Big Ten opener against Penn State at Kinnick Stadium.
This marks the seventh time in 19 seasons under Kirk Ferentz that Iowa has started 3-0.
Wadley left the game with an apparent lower leg injury after Iowa's second possession and it did return. Butler exited in the third quarter with an arm injury.
Ferentz told the media after Saturday's game that neither injury was believed to be serious.
Freshmen Ivory Kelly-Martin and Toren Young each carried the ball for the first time as Hawkeyes in place of the injured seniors.
Kelly-Martin and Young combined for 152 yards on 30 carries and Kelly-Martin found the endzone twice to seal the game for Iowa in the fourth quarter.
