Iowa remains near the top for four-star running back Jirehl Brock

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team might have lost to fourth-ranked Penn State on Saturday night, but that didn't effect its standing with 2019 four-star running back Jirehl Brock.
Brock took in the night-game atmosphere of Kinnick Stadium, along with other activities, and still has Iowa near the top of his list of scholarship offers, which include Illinois, Iowa State, Michigan State and Missouri. Brock has favored Iowa since a visit over the summer.
"They are pretty high up to me," Brock said. "Just because I've met with the coaches multiple times and the place is just flat out amazing."
A native of Quincy, Ill., Brock was impressed by the support from the Iowa fans at Kinnick Stadium, and by their knowledge of recruiting. Brock said he heard numerous fans yelling his name as he walked on to the field to watch pre-game warm-ups.
"The atmoshere was crazy," said the 6-foot, 200-pound Brock. "I've never seen anything like that in my life. I just got closer with the coaches and the other recruits. And (I got) the feeling that the Iowa fans are legit. When you're walking into the stadium and you have Iowa fans yelling your name, that shows that they are serious about their Hawkeyes.
"They must be really into the whole Iowa recruiting process."
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz often talks about the importance of finding the right fits in recruiting. And that seems to be the case with Brock based on what he is hearing from teh Iowa coaches.
"They just like the way I run the ball," Brock said. "And also from a personality standpoint they like me."
Both sides seem to like each other a lot, but Brock still doesn't plan on making a decision anytime soon.
"I'm going to make it after my senior season so it doesn't take any attention away from my team and the season," Brock said.
Brock said he doesn't have any visits set up to other schools at the present time.
Iowa currently has four players committed to its 2019 recruiting class.
