Stanley currently ranks second in the Big Ten and is tied for eighth nationaly with 15 touchdown passes. Stanley also has only thrown two interceptions through six games.
"Right now I think we have a pretty efficient young quarterback who has exceeded our expectations and really has done a fairly good job for us," Ferentz said. "You look at the touchdowns to interceptions, you look at the completion percentage, he's right at about 57 percent. Just his efficiency numbers have been impressive. One thing I'd say about Nate is I really feel good ahout how he's grown as the season has gone on."
Iowa faces Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. on Oct. 21 and looks to improve to 2-2 in Big Ten play and 5-2 overall.
Northwestern comes into the game 0-2 in Big Ten play an 2-3 overall.
