Wisconsin athlete Da’Shaun Brown humbled by Iowa offer

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Wisconsin athlete Da’Shaun Brown had been eyeing the Iowa football team for a while even before receiving a scholarship offer over the weekend.
The Racine, Wis. native said he was humbled by the offer from a school that he has followed for years.
“I was super excited,” Brown said. “With them being my second offer it was definitely humbling. It was definitely a dream come true. It’s a place I could see myself being someday. But it’s the same for Wisconsin, I like both schools and have a lot of interest in both. It’s definitely exciting for me.”
The 6-foot-1, 183-pound Brown likes Iowa’s tradition and penchant for producing quality alumni.
“I would say tradition stands out,” Brown said. “They have a nice group of alumni. I like the area, there’s not a lot of neighborhoods around they’re kind of by themselves.”
The Iowa coaching staff sees Brown as the type of person that will represent them well on and off the field.
“They said they like my speed and that I’m elusive,” Brown said. “They like my speed to the ball on defense. I sent them my defensive film because they’re scouting me more at defensive back than at quarterback.
“They said they like how flexible my hips. When I went up there they said they loved my attitude, they love how positive I am.”
Being a 2019 prospect, Brown still has plenty of time to explore his options and doesn’t want to jump into anything.
He did say, however, that he would like to have the recruiting process over with before his senior football season.
“My decision will be made if not over the summer then right before my senior season,” Brown said. “I want to be playing football my senior season for my high school knowing that I know where I want to go next year, I know who I want to build relationships with. Offers can still come so I don’t want to make a quick decision.”
Brown, who also holds an offer from Wisconsin, said that he plans to visit Iowa and Wisconsin in the near future. He also has plans to visit Iowa State and Notre Dame in December.
