IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team is considered to be loaded at the defensive end position, but you can never plan too much for the future.

A prime example is 2019 three-star defensive end Etinosa Reuben.

The Kansas City, Mo., native took his first visit to Iowa for its final spring practice this past Friday and left with a scholarship offer.

“It was pretty big,” Reuben said. “I had been in contact with the coaching staff for a while and had a feeling the offer might come.”

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Reuben enjoyed the opportunity to familiarize himself with the Iowa program.

“What stood out to me was getting to meet some of the players and the coaching staff,” Reuben said.

Reuben particularly enjoyed the chance to sit down with Iowa’s seventh-year defensive coordinator Phil Parker.

Parker is entering his 20th season overall at Iowa and was a part of head coach Kirk Ferentz’s original staff.

Parker is also known for his no-nonsense, fiery nature, and for being up front and honest with recruits.

“He’s a pretty straight-forward guy,” Reuben said. “He’s not going to jump around any subject and he’s going to tell it like it is.”

Reuben would like to make his college choice before his senior season begins, but still hasn't trimmed his list of scholarship offers from schools that include Arizona State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Notre Dame, Purdue and Wisconsin.
