IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team hosted four uncommitted players from the 2019 class this weekend, and now three of them have since committed to the Hawkeyes.

The latest was three-star offensive lineman Justin Britt, who announced his commitment to Iowa on Twitter on Sunday, and just minutes after three-star defensive back Dane Belton had picked the Hawkeyes.

Their commitments came a day after three-star defensive end Jalen Hunt had announced for Iowa on Twitter.

All three players visited Iowa this weekend, along with most of the players who already were committed to Iowa's 2019 recruiting class, which now stands at 13 players overall. 

"I chose Iowa because of coaching stability, the atmosphere around the university, the bond with current players and other recruits and development of players, especially defensive backs," Belton said.

The 6-foot-4, 282-pound Britt picked Iowa over at least a dozen other scholarship offers from schools that include Arizona, Indiana, Louisville and Michigan State. The Indianapolis native is ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals and the seventh best recruit from Indiana.

The 6-1, 185-pound Belton, who is from Tampa, Fla.,  picked Iowa over at least 25 other scholarship offers from schools that include Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Missouri.

Besides being an Iowa commit, Belton has another tie to Iowa City. His father attended the University of Iowa for a time and worked at a certain well-known grocery store.

"It's really cool," Belton said. "Especially when we were there he told us all the places he knew and how he used to work at the Hy-Vee close to campus."

Britt is the fourth player from the Indianapolis area to pick Iowa in less than a year.

Iowa's 2018 recruiting class included two defensive backs – D.J. Johnson and Julius Brents – and receiver Tyrone Tracy, all of whom are from the Indianapolis area.

Most of players who are committed to Iowa's 2019 class were in Iowa City this weekend on official visits.

Hunt, a native of Belleville, Mich., picked Iowa over scholarship offers from Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri and Kentucky among others. He was a high school teammate of 2018 Iowa defensive back recruit Kaevon Merriweather.

Georgia defensive end Tomari Fox is believed to be the only recruit who visited Iowa this weekend who isn't committed to the Hawkeyes. 

With the addition of three new recruits, all of whom are three-star prospects, Iowa has climbed to No. 25 in the latest rankings by Rivals.
