AH podcast: Former Iowa tight end Brandon Myers is our guest on Friday
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa tight end and recently retired NFL veteran Brandon Myers was our guest on Friday's Allhawkeyes/KCJJ radio show.
Myers played eight seasons in the NFL from 2009 to 2016 and is now retired and lives with his wife and 15-month old son in Arizona. He also serves as a volunteer football coach with the local high school.
Myers was a multi-sport star at Prairie City-Monroe and was committed to play both football and basketball for Northern Iowa until Iowa made a late scholarship offer.
He accepted Iowa's late offer and would go on to be a standout tight end for the Hawkeyes.
Myers is one of nine tight ends from Iowa that have been selected in the NFL Draft under Kirk Ferentz.
The Oakland Raiders selected Myers in the sixth round of the 2009 draft.
He looks back at his career during the 30-minute interview and shares his thoughts about Iowa's two-headed monster at tight end with T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant both having standout seasons.
